Alstor 8×8

Having worked extensively in Monmouth,Wye valley and beyond it became clear that a large number of woodlands, especially smaller woodlands are suffering from neglect and lack of management. This is often as a result of such woodlands being in steep inaccessible areas that are hard to access using standard forestry machinery. Much of the woodland expanse of the Wye valley is ancient woodland and designated sites of special scientific interest containing fragile habitats that demand a light touch and where standard large scale forestry equipment could cause long lasting and irreversible damage. Realising there weren’t many contractors with small scale low impact machinery we decided to purchase our own. We have recently purchased a small scale purpose built mini forwarder, an Alstor 831. Built in Sweden the Alstor 831 packs a large punch for what is a small sized machine. The Alstor is an 8 wheel drive mini forwarder for extracting timber, Weighing only two tonnes and with a width of just 1.5 metres it is perfect for accessing hard and difficult terrain without the need for extensive tracks and infrastructure. Around 2.5 tonnes of timber can be transported on each load, although outputs are dependent on terrain and extraction distances,20 to 40 tonnes per day are achievable. The Machine is also fitted with a remote controlled winch which makes it possible to reach areas that are completely impassable for machines. It is easily transported on a trailer so can be taken to relatively inaccessible locations.

We also have a towable Hakki Pilke firewood processor which is available for hire.
